| About us
Bromley School Run is the result of an idea
that Chris Pearse, a Bromley parent, had in the middle of the night….
Chris realised that the internet could be used to put local parents in
touch with once another, enabling them to arrange to share the school
run, and thereby reduce both congestion and pollution in Bromley.
Chris went to Bromley Borough Council with his idea, and was immediately
put in touch with Transport for London and Liftshare, the UK's No.1 car-sharing
company. A partnership was then formed, and an initial proposal drafted,
which led to the development of this pilot scheme.
"The congestion around many schools in the Borough is so intense
during the morning and afternoon school runs that the community as a whole,
and parents in particular, are paying a heavy price in terms of time,
stress and fuel costs", says Chris.
"Some of that congestion could be alleviated by parents sharing
the school run, making it quicker and cheaper for all - and of course
more fun as well".
We hope that the present scheme will help us achieve Chris's vision and
that you will find it a helpful tool, enabling you to get your children
to school quickly and easily.
